There back! Our beautiful, cryptically feathered nighthawk friends have returned from there winter vacation in the Southern Americas, heralding the arrival of the summer in central and southern British Columbia! I heard my very first CONI “peent” of the year and found this handsome male calling from a nearby acacia tree along the southern Thompson river. He looked very comfortable while roosting in overhead in 30 degree Celsius sunny weather.
Heres to a happy CONI season for all the WildResearch Nightjar surveyors, & wishing everyone a happy start to a great summer for those of who are wild by nature!
